Environmental Home Assessment Program
What is (EHAP)?

This is a free program designed to help rural homeowners protect their health and the environment by providing them with the information and tools they need to properly maintain their septic systems, water wells, and home heating oil tanks.

Old well house
Who can participate?

Homeowners that have both a well and septic system can participate in the program. Clean Annapolis River Project is responsible for delivery of the program in the western region of the province. See the bottom of this page for contact information.

What is involved in an Environmental Home Assessment?

An Environmental Home Assessment involves a home visit to gather information regarding the functionality of the septic system, well and oil tank as well as the home itself. The assessment is conducted with the homeowner and all information is reviewed; recommendations for maintenance of the above objects are provided.

All information collected, excluding names and other identifiers, is sent to the Department of Environment and Labour for statistical purposes only.
