Public Meeting - Moose River Restoration

June 15th, 2010

The Clean Annapolis River Project (CARP) has retained a consultant team to conduct a feasibility study for the restoration of native river ecosystems and fish passage on the Moose River in the vicinity of the Clementsport Dam. Public input is an important component of the feasibility study. To this end, the consultant team will hold a public meeting to present the status of the ongoing study and present details on the preferred option for restoration.

The purpose of the feasibility study is to evaluate the various options for restoration of the native river ecosystems within the vicinity of the Clementsport Dam. Options include repair of the dam and fish ladder, dam replacement, dam removal to restore free passage of fish, and no action. The ultimate goal of the feasibility study is to identify a “preferred option” based on a variety of engineering, ecological and community criteria.

The purpose of the meeting on June 29th will be to provide an overview of work completed to date and to present the preferred restoration option. The CARP and consultant team will incorporate feedback from this public meeting into the final conceptual design report for the Clementsport Dam Project.

The June 29th meeting will be held on from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at the Clementsport Legion Hall (downstairs). We encourage attendance of this meeting, as the input gathered from public and local stakeholders will play a key role in the completion of the feasibility study and in the future development of the Clementsport Dam.
