Climate Change Issues
The reality of climate change and its future positive and negative impacts is supported by the vast majority of scientific opinion.

Research surrounding climate change in Atlantic Canada gives a general indication of the anticipated or possible impacts on the region. However, these indications are too broad to be used to predict impacts on particular regions of Atlantic Canada. This inability to predict outcomes makes it difficult to develop any appropriate policy responses.

This project was implemented for two reasons. Firstly, to increase the understanding of Environment Canada and the communities of the Annapolis Valley with respect to the impact that climate change will have on the region. Secondly, to increase the capacity of the communities to input policy processes related to climate change in the region.

CARP worked with the Meteorological Service of Canada (MSC) to develop climate change scenarios for the Annapolis Valley. These scenarios focus on the range of projected temperature and precipitation changes possible over the next 50 years for locations in the Valley. The scenarios will be used as a basis for a series of policy development forums to develop community-based policy responses for adaptation to climate change in the Annapolis Valley.

The Volunteer Sector Initiative (VSI) provided the funding for this project.
