Atlantic Ecosystems Initiatives Workshop

The Annapolis River
Several community-based groups in Atlantic Canada that are concerned about the state of our environment; Atlantic Coastal Action Program sites, First nations groups, government, industry and non governmental organizations. These organizations are addressing the problem from a variety of angles and many are growing in sophistication and range of projects.

Groups are working together where their interests or geography overlap. CARP saw that to continue these important efforts, all of these partners could benefit from an exchange of ideas and learning experiences as well as a fresh infusion of energy and enthusiasm.

It is against this background that the Clean Annapolis River Project (CARP) proposed the Community Ecosystems Initiatives Workshop. The workshop was held at the Cornwallis Park Training and Convention Centre, Clementsport, NS from October 15 to 18, 1998.

The overall objective of the Community Ecosystems Initiatives Workshop was to "enhance the capacity of community based, multi-stakeholder organizations to utilize the growing community and government partnerships aimed at sustainability in Atlantic Canada."
