Pollution Prevention

Litter; a common pollutant
The overall goal of this project was to raise awareness about pollution prevention opportunities and to show individuals in the Annapolis watershed that they can develop a plan that works for their organization. All aspects of the project emphasized the benefits related to implementing pollution prevention, such as:
  • Greater cost efficiency
  • Improved public relations
  • Reduced liability, and increased credit
  • Investor confidence
To achieve the goal of this project, individual consultations, presentations and training sessions were required.

The individual consultations were conducted with businesses, business groups, and institutions to gather information. Waste minimization suggestions were developed based on the information gathered.

Several presentations were held for local business groups, Boards of Trade, Lion's Clubs, and Town Councils.

Training sessions were held that targeted specific topics and sectors of business.
Funding for this project was received from Environment Canada.
